Snacking Healthy Really Isn't That Hard

You Just Have To Know What You Are Looking For

Snacks are a part of everybody's diet, and if your anything like me, you like to snack at least a couple of times a day.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this as long as your snacks are not potato chips, ice cream, or something dripping with cheese.

As hard as it may be to avoid grabbing some Cool Ranch Doritos and a Mountain Dew for an evening snack, that is exactly what you will have to do in order to start eating right and living a healthy life.

You have to learn to be smart about these temptations and simply eat something that is both good for you and that satisfies your cravings. Believe it or not, this is actually possible.

This list of snacks is both nutritious and delicious:

  • Beef Jerky - This a great snack that you can grab at a gas station when your on the go. It is low in fat and high in protein. Just don't go overboard with it as most jerky is high in sodium.
  • Yogurt - Yogurt is great for an evening snack or as part of your breakfast. Try to stick to Greek yogurts as they have a good amount of protein and usually less sugar as well.
  • Almonds - Roasted cinnamon almonds are a great snack to get at a live sporting event or a movie theater. They are high in healthy fats and contain a bit of protein too.
  • Nature Valley Protein Bars - These bars are all natural and they are awesome. They are high in protein, healthy fats and contain very few ingredients.
  • Fruit - Kiwis, grapes, watermelons, and strawberries are some of my favorite fruits to keep around for a healthy snack. A fresh juicy watermelon in the summertime is simply the best (with or without the vodka).
Those are just a few of many snacks out there that you can start eating right away and substituting into your everyday diet.

It is time to start ditching snacks that are deep fried, full of sugar, or covered in salt. Simply stay away from these things at the super market and don't even keep them around the house.

Surround your self with nothing but healthy snacks and you will be surprised at what happens. I guarantee you will start eating more fruit, yogurt and almonds if that is all that is available (and this is a great thing btw).

More delicious and nutritious snacks:
  1. Hummus - Hummus is great with a whole wheat pita, carrots, or wheat thins. It is high in healthy fats and is also great as an appetizer. Roasted garlic hummus is my personal favorite.
  2. Cereal - As long as your cereal isn't covered in sugar and full fat milk, cereal is great choice for an evening snack.
  3. Popcorn - If you can hold off drowning your popcorn in butter and bathing it in salt then you have a very nutritious snack that is rich in anti-oxidants.
Your grocery store is full of good things for you to snack on, you just have to find out what you like and start keeping it around more often.

It really is not that hard to eat right and eat healthy, you just have to keep all the junk food at bay and try to not even keep it around.

It sounds so simple to do, and if you can manage to start doing it, you will definitely notice some positive changes to your body and to your mind as well.
